The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to introduce a National Digital Pre-Registration App (NDPA) ahead of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The proposed digital platform is designed to simplify the UTME registration process by allowing prospective candidates to complete key preparatory steps on their mobile phones before visiting accredited registration centres.
What Candidates Will Be Able to Do With the App
According to the information provided by JAMB, the National Digital Pre-Registration App will enable candidates to carry out several important activities before proceeding to an accredited registration centre.
These include:
Exploring available courses and programmes.
Checking admission requirements.
Confirming the appropriate UTME subject combinations.
Reviewing and confirming personal information.
Completing other preparatory steps ahead of physical registration.
The initiative is expected to give candidates a better understanding of the registration requirements before they visit a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre.
JAMB Says App Will Reduce Registration Errors
JAMB explained that the proposed platform is part of its efforts to make the UTME registration process more efficient and convenient for candidates across the country.
The Board said the app is expected to reduce registration errors, shorten the amount of time candidates spend at registration centres, and improve the overall registration experience.
The platform is also expected to support different mobile devices, while some of its functions may be available without an active internet connection.
NDPA Will Not Replace CBT Centre Registration
JAMB has clarified that the National Digital Pre-Registration App will not replace the official UTME registration process.
Candidates will still be required to visit accredited JAMB registration centres/CBT centres for final verification and completion of their registration.
The app will therefore serve primarily as a preparatory tool, helping candidates get their information and requirements ready before the final registration stage.
